Breaking Point (Poem)

The gun feels heavy
In my hand
The smoke swirls ‘round me
Engulfing where I stand
My breath, it rattles
With each gasp of air
My heart beats wildly
Echoing within my ears
I’ve never felt this anger
Succumbed to this kind of rage
Never had someone confine me so
Putting me in a cage
I hate the fear and pain
You would always make me feel
The scars, so bright, upon my skin
My nightmares became so real
Yet I feel my body start to quiet
My vision now starts to clear
And as your blood pools on the ground
There’s no one left to fear
